Project: Institutional embeddedness of curriculum innovation: A comparative analysis of university systems

Supervisors: Thomas Heinze

Project Summary

My project examines the evolution of academic disciplines in European higher education institutions in the period from 1970 to 2020 characterised by expansion of the university system. Focussing on curricular change at German universities, I aim to identify which factors influenced the adoption of new disciplines in teaching programmes, such as university ranking, size, and financial resources. By analysing data for five decades, this study will contribute to the understanding of institutional processes that influence knowledge production in higher education in response to broader societal trends.
