Project Summary

My PhD project investigates the arguments and claims put forth by researchers of nonhuman mentality (NM). NM encompasses different areas of the study of cognition, intelligence, and consciousness in nonhuman living beings, such as nonhuman animals, plants, fungi, protists, and bacteria. This research and its implications are often controversial and heavily debated within science but surprisingly popular in other academic fields such as the humanities, and among the wider public. By analysing the NM debate, my project explores whether NM research is in the process of transforming biology and related areas of science.
