Project Summary
The historiography of physics changed in the course of the second half of the 20th century and provided important impulses for the history of science. At the same time, the women’s movement gave rise to women’s studies and history, which had an influence on the historiography of science and physics. Against this background, in my PhD project I am investigating the contentual, procedural and institutional transformations in the historiography of physics with regard to the representation of female physicists in the second half of the 20th century in the USA and (West) Germany and the social and cultural conditions in the context of which they emerged.
